Sapphire (aluminium oxide single crystal) has extremely high hardness, second only to diamond, and has strong wear resistance and scratch resistance.

Sapphire Plunger Rods also have excellent high-temperature and chemical corrosion resistance and can maintain stability in extreme environments. This makes sapphire rods important in high-temperature equipment, optical instruments, medical equipment and other fields.

In addition, the high light transmittance of sapphire makes it excellent in optical applications, especially in the ultraviolet and infrared ranges and can transmit light of specific wavelengths without being affected.

Sapphire Rods is one of the hardest materials, and possesses very good transmission during the range of visible and near IR spectrum.It is widely used as optical window in infrared and far infrared military equipments, apparatus and instruments of satellite and space technology, and navigation and spaceflight, such as night infrared scope/sight and night vision camera, etc.

Sapphire transmits ultraviolet light, but sometimes exhibit fluorescence when subjected to powerful ultraviolet sources. For this reason, they are best suited for use with visible to infrared wavelengths.
