Custom Sapphire T-step Windows

AOG's sapphire step windows, also known as T-Windows, are a specialty product designed for applications such as viewports, high-pressure, and vacuum environments. They are particularly well-suited for deep-sea vehicles, offering exceptional resistance to saltwater corrosion and debris while maintaining a thinner profile than traditional glass.

In high-pressure applications, optical windows benefit from reduced thickness, and sapphire step windows excel in this regard. With a MOHS hardness of 9—second only to diamond—sapphire provides excellent durability while transmitting light across a broad spectrum from 190nm to 5000nm, making it ideal for UV and mid-wave infrared applications.

While round sapphire optical components are typically the most cost-effective, rectangular windows can also be produced, often cut from round stock. At AOG, we have the advanced machinery required to manufacture custom-shaped windows, ensuring flexibility to meet diverse requirements.
